Things are festering up inside my head. Serious thoughts. Thoughts that make me feel nauseated. It’s not just a few thoughts. It’s a lot. At one time. I can’t focus. It’s extremely crippling sometimes.

Not long ago, I vowed to start saying what I’m thinking and stop holding back. I sincerely meant that. The problem is that I sit here to say it and all the thoughts start whizzing around in my head like cars in a Nascar race. Each thought could easily be it’s own novel.

I’ve decided to just put the thoughts down for now. Maybe then I can come back and tackle each thought with it’s own post later. Maybe.

I have some really strange dreams. I always have. Now they are becoming more vivid, strange and scary. One dream from a few months ago was so strange, I talked about it. The dream has since become reality. If I hadn’t talked about it before it happened, no one would have believed it. And no, I’m not claiming to be psychic.

Once I married a man as smooth as a used car salesman. I’m still paying for the load of lies he sold me everyday. I can now spot another such smooth talker instantly. There’s one in particular that I pegged as a “used car salesman” over a year ago that is scaring the hell out of me now and the load of lies everyone will be paying for the rest of their lives.

If the definition of insanity is continuing to do what you’ve always done and expecting a different outcome – then what is it called when “experts” decide to force us into agreeing with solutions that have consistently failed throughout history and attempt to gamble our own lives as if it’s THE answer to all our problems? What the HELL is that?

There’s a lot of my online friends that I worry about. These are in addition to the normal worries you have for your friends. I am worried my friends have dangerously painted themselves into a soundproof box with tiny peepholes that they can look out, if they CHOOSE to do so. They’ve done this based on business and marketing advice. I’m afraid the trade off may be greater than they realize.

I’m getting angry over hypocrisy of these things – Transparency and Freebies – and how my friends from #4 are missing this. The very things they are striving to achieve may be totally worthless/useless if they don’t pay attention. Hey friends if you are still reading, remember “Who the Media? YOU the Media!”? REMEMBER? Yeah. Wake up. I mean this in the nicest way. Really.

Talking about the usual stuff that used to be important to me just seems totally pointless and irritating these days. Listening to others (which I’m really good at in person & hardly ever bring my own problem to the table) who are whining about insignificant crap is wearing my nerves thin. I’ve found about two people that honestly GET IT that I can talk to lately. I’m afraid I’m bringing entirely too much to the table for them, but they are being great listeners.

There’s more thoughts racing by. I just can’t catch them all. A few have even crashed into the wall and are up in flames now. I hope at least getting some of these basic thoughts down will help me focus on other things again.

What’s bothering you? Let me know, if you feel you can, or you are bold enough. I’ve been just obvious enough that you may know the things I’m talking about. If you don’t and are curious, I’m HUNGRY to talk about it.

I’m hungry to talk about it because you’re my friend. And that’s what we’re supposed to do. Even if we don’t agree on everything. Really.

Tonight Biscuit walked by and saw the National Debt Clock being mentioned on T.V. It caught his attention because he noticed how quickly the numbers were growing and he asked if all those dollars were what someone owes or what someone is earning.

I explained that those numbers are what is owed by the people of the United States. He wanted to know how we were going to pay for all that. I then explained that most is intended to be paid by taxes.

Biscuit then asked WHO pays taxes. I told him that we already pay a tax of some sort on almost everything we buy. The rest of the taxes come from the money you earn when you work.

THIS is what my honor roll, gifted and talented son of only eight years old replied:

“I’m never gonna get a job and work then. I can never pay all that back!”

I have no words of encouragement for this brilliant child with great dreams. He already sees the problem. I can’t say I blame him for his reaction. I’m sure many already feel the same way. Now there’s talk of a second “stimulus” package.

Come on, PLEASE, wake up. Pull up the National Debt Clock and think about it. Better yet, see what your eight year old thinks about it.

Lousy photo of me, I know. I was goofing off after a long day of Christmas activities with family and showing off the pink camo hat my sister gave me as a prank gift. Check out the pose that was nearly cut out by the photographer focusing on my bad hair day and the strange hat on my head.

I loved watching Farrah Fawcett on Charlie’s Angels when I was a girl. Ask anyone which angel was their favorite and you’ll almost always hear Farrah as their answer.

Boys may have hung the Farrah Fawcett Red Swimsuit Poster on their walls but I wanted to BE Farrah. Or at least LOOK like her (didn’t you?). Even in movies where she was supposed to look worn out and used up, like The Burning Bed and The Substitute Wife, I’d still love to look that good! Actually, I’d just be happy settling with her bad hair day. That would be better than mine!

I’m impressed with her cancer fight until the very end. I’m looking forward to seeing the last of her story documenting her cancer fight that was she was working on. I was saddened to hear that she lost her battle last Friday.

It’s been a bittersweet week of thinking back on my personal childhood memories in many ways. Goodbye Farrah. Thanks for being a part of my good memories!

Before you think I’m waffling on those words, I’m not. Here’s a refresher, because you probably missed what I had to say a few years ago on the subject:

http://www.goodbirthcontrol.com/blog/random-rantings
http://www.goodbirthcontrol.com/blog/my-apology-to-martha-stewart

I’m not a total Michael Jackson hater. Really. I grew up with Michael and sang along with him just like many of you did. I attempted his moves and I giggled every time he squealed and grabbed his crotch area. Honestly, I still can’t believe that my mother bought his music and allowed us to watch his videos. I guess in some way she thought he was my generation’s Elvis and didn’t want to deprive us of the moment.

I watched Michael evolve into a human freak show as I grew up. I think he was HOT before he manipulated his face and his skin mysteriously whitened. I honestly believe the pressure to do the next unbelievable thing for attention and keep him in the media was really the reason for most of the things he did.

I think Michael’s success and attention grabbing antics greatly contributed to making him a victim of frivolous lawsuits and blackmail.

EXCEPT…

All the negative, shady speculation and accusations about his inappropriate behavior with children can’t be untrue. I could see maybe one or two children being manipulated by their parents, stretching the truth or blatantly lying. Again, in those cases, I said manipulated by their parents for monetary opportunities.

BUT…

My instinct says Michael took advantage of his celebrity position to be inappropriate with children.

Here’s something you probably don’t know…

As a victim of child molestation myself, making a huge national news story of the situation is probably the last thing you’d ever want. It’s embarrassing enough to tell your parents. It’s too shameful to tell your friends about. It haunts you forever, even when it’s a secret between only you and your violator.

There’s only a few reasons to motivate you to tell someone.

You don’t know how else to make it stop.

You want to protect others – such as your siblings.

I was violated by two different individuals as a child. The first I never reported because I stayed clear of being put in the situation again. The second offender couldn’t be avoided. I told because I wanted it to stop and I wanted my sister and other young family members to be safe. The situation was handled quietly but I still had to see the offender often enough. To this day, my own children have been in this person’s presence about three times, and I have never been sweet to the person or left them alone with my children.

I have great respect for families that prosecute child violators and protect their children and future child victims. I have the greatest respect for the victim for speaking up and making it stop.

I don’t think there is any excuse for being sexually inappropriate with a child in any way. I don’t care who you are, what your past experiences are, or what pressures you face in your daily life. This includes Michael.

That being said, rest in peace, Michael. Goodbye to a wonderful childhood memory that made me giggle and pushed me forward to be unique and awesome despite the odds.

And finally, good riddance, Michael. Goodbye to the man that awakened my childhood nightmares that I longed to forget. Goodbye to the man that reminded me every bright person has his own dark side.

But then, while looking at the other photos and thinking about the entire “race debate” with Obama and Clinton in this election, one particular photo struck me:

You see, this photo of the children walking back to their classroom has several races, but there’s something even more interesting than that…

This school was once a segregated school for African Americans. It is now a Pre-K and Kindergarten with an African American principal, who by the way, is FANTASTIC.

I recently went on a field trip with the class to a ranch with exotic animals. All children were paired up with a partner to hold hands with. When I arrived, my son held one of my hands and his little partner held my other hand… not by force, but by the children’s choice.

The little boy didn’t care that my son is white. He didn’t care that I am white. My son didn’t care if his friend that held his Mommy’s hand was black. It was just really cool that Mommy came to hang out with them.

Are children color blind or are they taught racism? If it’s taught, then I’m impressed with my son’s class, their parents, teacher, principal and school. Would Dr. King be proud? I’m not an expert, but I think maybe so.

Dear Democratic Presidential Candidates (and voters):

This has been bothering me for awhile. I start it, then I delete it. It’s just such a touchy topic. The more touchy the topic becomes, the more it bothers me.

First of all, let me state for the record, I voted for one of you, but I’m not 100% certain I’d trust either of you as far as I can throw you. I could have voted Republican, but I’m not impressed with our front runner there either. I voted for the one of you I think will get the job done. It had nothing to do with your sex or race.

Despite the fact that I’m not tickled pink by either you, I took my right to vote very seriously. I even took my two youngest children with me and let them be part of the voting process to ensure they grow up and take their right to vote seriously. I’d like to think I voted for the best person, but this constant bickering and refusal to team up or bow down is enough to make a person want to slap their Grandma.

Politics are dirty. We’ve all accepted it. We might not like it, but we see a long history of proof. I don’t see that changing any time soon. So why don’t we just cut the crap and stop acting “Holier than thou”?

While we’re at it, let’s stop dancing around some specific issues. If people are dancing around these issues now, we’ll only be more divided when either of you are President. Please, give us a break. Let’s get it over with now and get this country back on track.

Let’s talk about Hillary Clinton:

I’m so sick of hearing what a bitch Hillary is. What choice have you left her? If Hillary shows compassion , you accuse her of being too soft. If she’s firm, you make remarks about hormones. Frankly, in my house, sometimes it takes a bit of PMS to get the job done.

I’m so sick of hearing what a liar she is. Maybe she is. It’s not a great trait, I agree, but aren’t we all liars to some degree? Some of our most loved Presidents were also liars. I can assure you Barack Obama has also told a lie or two.

I’m sick of hearing her say she doesn’t agree with what her supporters say about Obama to save face. At the same time, it’s not like she can agree with them or she’ll be accused of racism. Let me remind you, one of these supporters was NOT white . She was Hispanic and her feelings were valid.

Let’s talk about Barack Obama:

The man gives a good speech. It’s called Persuasive Speaking. Indeed, it’s nearly impossible to not be moved by his words, but I’ve been married to man that had a way with words. He was all talk and the beautiful dream he weaved exploded like a mine field. Can Obama put his money where his mouth is? Can he deliver or will we be left to clean up the mess after we discover he isn’t a saint?

Obama had a very unique childhoood abroad and a blended family. You’d think this would be a positive aspect for us all, but what do you really know about him? Have you read his book, Dreams From My Father ? There seems to be a denial of his true biracial self and white family background and upbringing. Can someone so conflicted with himself be the person to unite us all as a nation?

If race truly isn’t an issue for Obama or voters, why do so many tiptoe around the issue? Those that voice anything related to race are pegged a racist . Some are so diligent in trying to prove how much the issue doesn’t matter that they fail to see they are being racist in exactly the opposite end of the spectrum.

So what am I saying?

It’s all verbal vomit. Let’s stop talking about man vs. woman and black vs. white so we can fix our country or find a way to convince Oprah to run for President and solve the entire idiotic situation. We can then listen to voters bitch and moan about how a celebrity has no business running our country (Ronald Regan was an actor and successful President, so why not?).

Columbus Day irks me, it truly does. Even when I was a child and had the entire “Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492″ lesson, this day of celebration never really added up for me.

Seriously, we give the US Post Office and our banks the day off because a man “discovered” the new world (only because he was lost… completely off the beaten path of India) which happened to already be inhabited by… Native Americans. Don’t even bother mentioning the fact that we were also taught that the Vikings and others had been here before Columbus.

Yeah, seriously. Why don’t the rest of us get to celebrate and take a day off when we can’t find our head or tell the difference from our rear? Can’t we all convince a royal entity to fund our good fortune of stupidity? Can we all be given a “get out of jail free card” to do whatever we want to others for our own personal gain and glory?

If our children are going to be forced to learn about this day every year of their elementary career, perhaps they should be taught the actual facts and not the Mary Poppins version.

Students are tested to ensure they have mastered what they have been taught and they are expected to show respect to their teachers and classmates as well as be honest (no cheating or copying). Yet this lesson in history reeks of a man that could not navigate, took credit for other’s accomplishments and profited from the misfortune he brought upon others. If you think Native Americans were not affected by this “discovery” then take your birth control pill NOW, please.

Biscuit and Wrangler’s schools did not have the day off this year, but they did not go. Both announced that they felt badly this morning and I let them stay home. Honestly, I didn’t even realize it was Columbus Day. I’m a bit glad they missed this lesson today. They still learned about it, but I told them the story of Christopher Columbus without all the cutesy rhyming stories of the Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria and sailing the ocean blue. I told them the story in which Christopher Columbus is not a great hero or role model but instead, a man in the wrong place at the right time that dramatically altered life for many there after.

The United States of America is truly the “melting pot” of the world and it’s time we put aside our differences and learn from our past. My own bloodline is a mix of European and Native American… possibly more than that! I’m sure if you’ll dig far enough back in your own family history, you’ll find similar results.

Are you satisfied with the history of Columbus Day? Should we really celebrate this day for what it is or should we simply recognize the errors of our forefathers and learn from their mistakes?

I “grew up” listening to Michael and trying to moonwalk in my geeky parachute pants. Gosh, he was soooo cool. Today, the songs BEAT IT and BAD have a new meaning to me. I watched “Good Morning America” this morning and I was appalled when I watched the segment with two women jurors. I really don’t care if the victim’s mother was a crazy lunatic or a liar. The focus should have been on the child. I don’t care if they couldn’t prove Michael never touched the boy. He acted inappropriately and used his position as an adult and celebrity to get away with it.

Sorry for the digression, Martha. I promise now, that I’ll lighten up on the jokes. Shucks, I might even subscribe to your magazine soon. Thanks for being a great role model, even the one time you were busted by temptation. =)
